Regional Economic Development through Cohesion Policy

The first day of the study visit in Bucharest was eventful and productive:

  • Meeting at the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration:
    Discussions focused on approaches to implementing regional development and cohesion policies. Mr. Liviu Beileșteanu and Ms. Julia Herzog shared their experience in coordinating territorial cooperation programs and managing European funds.
  • Visit to the Ministry of European Investments and Projects:
    Ms. Irina Radu presented a strategy for coordinating funding programs aimed at strengthening regional economies and infrastructure.

Representatives of Romanian ministries shared practical experiences:

  • How an integrated approach facilitates the development of regional infrastructure through EU funding.
  • How effective collaboration between national and local authorities ensures sustainable project management.
  • Which innovative tools are used to support cross-border initiatives.

The Swiss-Ukrainian project “Cohesion and Regional Development of Ukraine” (UCORD) is implemented with support from Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, managed by NIRAS Sweden.
